Using Essential Oils For Hair Health And Treatment

Essential oils have been known and used for centuries for both therapeutic and beauty purposes. Due to their unique qualities, such as tonic and relaxing effects, the esters have been used extensively in the ancient times to treat nervous disorders and skin diseases. The healing qualities of essential oils are successfully used nowadays as well. Particularly common is the use of essential oils for hair treatment and health.
As it turns out, using a variety of essential oils can repair the hair and give it extra volume, strength and beauty. To make a hair mask with essential oils, they first need to be dissolved in a vegetable oils that is used as the base. The following common oils can be used as the base: sunflower, oil, grapeseed, jojoba, peach, almond and coconut. Typically, 3 to 5 drops of an essential oil is added to a teaspoon of the base oil.
The decision about which oil to use depends on the type of your hair and the result that you want to achieve. For instance, if your hair is oily at the roots and you want to get rid of this issue and accelerate hair growth, you can take the jojoba oil, add 5 drops of rosemary or clove oil and apply it to the roots. If your hair is dry and you have dandruff problems, you can take wheat germ oil, and add 5 drops of geranium, tea tree and rosemary oils. These masks should be applied once a week for maintenance and 2-3 times a week for hair treatment. After using the essential oil masks, the hair becomes shiny, manageable, strong and healthy. You can typically notice the results in 2-3 weeks.

Elasticity: ylang-ylang, Chamomile, sandalwood, geranium.
Treating excessive dryness: Mandarin, jasmine, myrrh and ylang-ylang oils.
Increased hair growth: Bay, frankincense, chamomile, cedarwood, myrrh, Juniper, Rosemary, ylang-ylang oils.
Reduced secretion of the sebaceous glands: grapefruit, lime, lemon oils.
Stimulation of the skin tone and elasticity: Orange, mint, rose, verbena, neroli oils.
Hair strength: Bay, pine, cedar, Sage, thyme oils.
Thin hair/hair loss: rosemary, marjoram, Chamomile, Clary Sage, Cypress, lemon, cedar, Juniper and lavender oils.
Split ends, brittle/broken staining and permed hair: carrot seed, Chamomile, Sage, lavender, sandalwood, and thyme oils.
To fight dandruff: geranium, tea tree, Rosemary, lavender oils.
Essential Oils For Hair Growth:
Bergamot oil has antiseptic properties; it normalizes the activity of the sebaceous glands, preventing oily hair roots. During the application you may feel a slight tingling sensation for the first few minutes.
Clove oil dilates vessels, accelerates the growth of hair, and also is a powerful antimicrobial agent.
Geranium oil quickly regenerates skin, has antiseptic properties, rejuvenates cells, normalizes the activity of the sebaceous glands, removes dandruff. It may cause a slight burning sensation for the first few minutes.
Grapefruit oil contains vitamins A, B, C, D, P, increases immunity, normalizes the secretion of sebaceous glands, helps get rid of oily hair roots.
Cinnamon oil accelerates hair growth.
Melissa essential oil eliminates dandruff and normalizes the secretion of oily hair. It also helps cope with melancholy and irritability.
Juniper oil promotes rapid skin regeneration, cleanses the body of toxins and impurities, has relaxing properties, improves hair growth and helps to get rid of oily hair.
Tea tree oil prevents hair loss, dandruff, has strong antiseptic and antibacterial agents.
Eucalyptus oil prevents hair loss and dandruff.
